Suitable for EV Charging Applications

RUBYCON announced a new radial type electrolytic capacitor BHW series (105°C, 10,000-12,000 hours) for use at high voltages (400-450V) in automotive applications, specifically suited for EV charging applications.

Electrolytic capacitors are often used in PFC circuits for electric vehicle charging applications. Due to the high voltage, larger capacitance and high ripple current, larger designs such as the snap-in type are used for these requirements. RUBYCON’s VXK series is one of the recommendable series in the snap-in range.

Radial Type Electrolytic Capacitor BXW Series

However, when the power requirement of the application becomes lower, the radial type (THT) will be preferred because of its compactness. Due to its long life and high specifications, the RUBYCON BXW series (105°C, 10,000-12,000 hours) is the common series in radial type (THT).

The new and improved BHW series is one size smaller compared to the BXW series. This series achieves 20% higher capacity (maximum) and also higher ripple current than the BXW series.

Key Features of the BHW Series (Radial/THT Type)

  • Lifetime: 105°C, 10.000 hours (length less than 20mm) or 12.000 hours (length more than 25mm)
  • Voltage: 400-450V
  • Size: φ16x35mm - φ18x50mm

This supports zero-defect requirements for automotive applications.
