Flexible Side-Vent Solution
RUBYCON is currently developing an innovative side-vent solution for snap-in capacitors – responding to growing demands for compact designs and top-cooling compatibility. This feature offers greater design flexibility and safe pressure relief even in space-constrained environments.
Technical Highlights
Instead of the conventional top vent, the new design places the safety vent on the side of the capacitor casing. The exact vent position may vary along the full 360° circumference. Supported sizes range from 22x4mm to 35x60mm, with initial φ35mm samples expected in Q3/2025.

Typical Applications
The side-vent is particularly suited for actively cooled on-board chargers (OBCs) in electric vehicles and industrial inverters, where high component density or thermal connections at the top prevent the use of traditional top vents.
Gas Escape Groove
For φ25mm, RUBYCON also offers a special housing design with a gas escape groove. This notch at the upper edge of the case allows lateral pressure relief even when the top of the capacitor is fully covered – additional sizes are under development based on demand.
