XCL233: DC/DC Converter with Integrated Coil and VSET
TOREX's Energy-Efficient Micro DC/DC Converter
With a quiescent current of only 200nA, the XCL233 Micro DC/DC Converter from TOREX is among the most power-efficient devices in its class. Thanks to its efficiency of over 80% - even at output currents as low as 0.01mA - it is ideal for applications where long battery life is essential. The integrated output voltage selection (VSET) function allows switching between two separate voltages, providing additional design flexibility.

With its compact 2.5×2.0mm package, the XCL233 offers an extremely space-saving solution for modern PCB layouts. Combined with its ultra-low power consumption, it is the perfect choice for battery-powered devices such as wearables, smart meters, and sensor modules.
Flexible Voltage Switching via VSET
The XCL233 supports an input voltage range from 1.8V to 6.0V. Using the VSET pin, the output voltage can be flexibly switched between two preset values (VOUT1: 0.5V to 1.9V and VOUT2: 2.0V to 3.6V). The converter provides a maximum output current of 150mA and achieves an efficiency of up to 86% (VIN = 3.6V, VOUT = 1.8V, IOUT = 10mA). Additional protection and convenience features include CL discharge (Type D), under-voltage lockout (UVLO), and short-circuit protection.

Ultra-Compact Design With Low EMI
A standout feature of the XCL233 is its ultra-compact 5mm² total solution size with very low electromagnetic interference (EMI). Only two external capacitors are required in addition to the device itself. The XCL233 is already in mass production, and samples and evaluation boards (EVBs) are available upon request.
How Does the XCL233 From TOREX Enhance Energy Efficiency in Battery-Powered Devices?
The XCL233 achieves exceptional efficiency with a quiescent current of only 200nA and more than 80% efficiency even at micro-load conditions. Its integrated VSET function enables flexible switching between two preset output voltages, optimizing power consumption in varying operating modes. Combined with its compact 2.5×2.0mm footprint, minimal external components, and low EMI, the XCL233 is ideal for battery-powered devices such as wearables, smart meters, and sensor modules.
