AP6612X Focusing on Low-Power
AMPAK TECHNOLOGY has introduced the AP6612 module, a 1x1 Wi-Fi6E capable module designed for applications with extremely low power consumption requirements. The AP6612 Wi-Fi module is based on the new SYNAPTICS SYN4612 Wi-Fi/BT transceiver, which was developed for ultra-low power applications in the Edge AI environment. It sets standards in terms of energy efficiency, system integration and size. Thanks to the advanced power management system of the SYN461x, which supports multiple performance levels, energy usage can be significantly reduced, extending battery life.

The AP6612X module features an SDIO interface and supports Wi-Fi2.4/5/6 GHz, Bluetooth 6.0, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), as well as IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee®/Thread™). It is compatible with a wide range of Wi-Fi6E and legacy access points/routers. Interfaces include SDIO v3.0/2.0 for Wi-Fi and UART/PCM for Bluetooth.

Technical Highlights of the Integrated SYN461x Chip
The integrated SYN461x Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chipset from SYNAPTICS is a versatile, Matter-compliant SoC supporting the latest Bluetooth features, including Channel Sounding and LE Audio with Auracast™. An integrated processor offloads tasks from the host application processor, further reducing overall system power consumption.
The SYN461x family extends SYNAPTICS’ triple-combo series for ultra low-power (ULP) IoT applications, delivering reliable connectivity up to 50 Mbps, long battery life, and maximum range. These are the most important features:
- Tri-band Wi-Fi (1×1) over 2.4, 5, and 6GHz with energy-optimized architecture
- Low-power Bluetooth/BLE with Channel Sounding for precise distance measurement
- IEEE 802.15.4 (Thread/Zigbee) with Matter support for seamless interoperability with common low-power networks
- Integrated Tx/Rx switch, LNAs, and PAs, reducing BOM and system costs while simplifying design (direct antenna connection only)
- WLBGA package option with low pin count for cost-effective, plated-through-hole (PTH) PCBs (up to 25% lower typical PCB costs)
