TOREX's Ideal Diode XC8110/11 as Load Switch
Reduces Battery Consumption
The XC8110/XC8111 series from TOREX are load switch ICs that reproduce ideal diode function. They are equipped with additional functionality such as chip enable (CE), over current limit, inrush current limit, and thermal shutdown.
Since this IC is equipped with an ideal diode function, compared to Schottky Barrier Diodes, which are generally used to prevent reverse current, the voltage corresponding to VF is lowered to about 1/20th subsequently lowering the loss. Despite the low VF of 20 mV, the reverse current from VOUT to VIN is 0uA, which is exactly the ideal diode characteristic. With these features, an output OR circuit can be easily realized which reduces battery consumption for backup purposes.
