YEEBO: In-Cell Touch Technology for Compact Industrial Displays

A New Generation of Industrial Touch Displays

YEEBO is pioneering the use of a technology from large-format display panels in compact industrial displays. The capacitive in-cell touch sensors are integrated directly into the LCD cell, resulting in thinner and lighter displays with improved image quality, higher brightness, lower power consumption, and simplified system integration.

Advanced IPS Technology for Maximum Flexibility

The display is based on state-of-the-art IPS technology and offers an 85° viewing angle from all directions. This ensures highly accurate color reproduction and excellent image quality. Thanks to its wide viewing-angle stability, the module is equally suitable for landscape (horizontal) and portrait (vertical) applications.

High Resolution for Sharp and Detailed Images

With a resolution of 320×480 pixels, the 3.5-inch display doubles the pixel count of comparable displays that typically offer 240×320 pixels. Its pixel density of 165ppi enables crisp rendering of text, graphics, and smooth curves, allowing it to compete with higher-resolution e-paper displays. The square pixel geometry ensures accurate rendering of circles and other geometric shapes without requiring additional correction algorithms.

Excellent Readability, Even Outdoors

Another key feature is the display's high brightness of typically 1110cd/m². This ensures reliable readability even in direct sunlight. The extended operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C and storage temperature range of -30°C to +80°C make the display suitable for a wide range of industrial and demanding environmental conditions.

What Are the Advantages of In-Cell Touch Technology Compared to Conventional Touchscreens?

The most significant innovation of the display is its in-cell touch technology. Capacitive touch sensors are integrated directly into the TFT layer and LCD cell, eliminating the need for an additional touch panel. By removing the separate touch sensor layer, the display becomes thinner and lighter. At the same time, direct integration improves touch response times and increases touch accuracy.

Since there is no additional touch layer in front of the display, the full display brightness is maintained. In conventional designs, an attached touch sensor typically reduces display brightness by approximately 15%. Users also benefit from improved image quality and lower power consumption.

Reduced Integration Effort and Lower System Costs

System integration is significantly simplified. A single controller is sufficient to manage both the display and touch functions, and both interfaces are provided through a single connector. This reduces integration complexity, lowers development effort, and offers additional cost-saving potential.
