Miniaturisation: KDS Introduces the DST310SA

KDS Introduces the DST310SA as an Advancement in the Field of Miniaturisation.

DST319SA for Wireless Modules and Smartphones

The DST310SA from KDS is a 32,768kHz crystal unit measuring 3.2x1.5mm. It represents an innovative 32,768kHz (tuning fork) unit and utilises the same crystal blank as the DST1610A, measuring 1.6x1.0mm (1610size), widely used in various applications such as wireless modules and smartphones today.

Significant Advantages

The DST310SA is packaged in a 3.2x1.5mm (3215size) housing.

The decision to use the same crystal blank as the DST1610A offers two significant advantages:

  1. The smaller chip (1610size) increases production with the same wafer size, leading to cost savings (refer to the table below).
  2. The characteristics of the DST310SA closely resemble those of the 1610 chip due to the shared crystal blank size. This facilitates a smoother transition to the 1610 size compared to other existing 3215 products.

Oscillation Margin Test

To ensure a seamless transition from a conventional 3215 quartz to the DST310SA, we recommend the Oscillation Margin Test. This test is conducted in the KDS laboratory using the customer's PCB to guarantee reliable oscillation in the application.

Samples of the DST310SA are now available in the CODICO Sample Shop.
