First to Market – Miniaturized Film Capacitor Series

KEMET recently launched another “first to market” film capacitor series.

R53 is a miniaturized EMI suppression film capacitor X2 class designed for harsh environments, which achieves a THB level grade IIIB. It´s a first to market X2 technology in terms of combined THB grade IIIB level, miniaturized dimensions and the highest capacitance value.

R53 Series

Due to its miniaturized dimensions, R53 series is an excellent, reliable option in space-constrained applications. R53 is constructed of metallized polypropylene film encapsulated with self-extinguishing resin in a box with low halogen content per JS709C. It is AEC-Q200 qualified and has specified a temperature range of -40°C to 110°C.

Rated voltage is 310VAC; recommended DC voltage is ≤630VDC. The achieved THB grade IIIB level means 85°C/85% R.H./1000h/310VAC and 560VDC, which is the difference to the about one year ago launched R52 series (500h).

Typical applications include automotive, smart utility meters, solar micro-inverters, AC and DC EMI filters (parallel with the main), capacitive power supplies and power line communication (in series with the main).
