Reducing the Quality Risk in the Field
Today, the main crystal suppliers no longer produce THT crystals because the number of producers of housing materials offering good quality and reliable service has decreased. Fewer material suppliers in the market also lead to higher procurement costs. Supply chain problems have intensified.
Furthermore, THT crystals such as "HC49" have a high quality risk due to particles sticking on the crystal blank.

Today, microprocessors require crystal frequencies of more than 16MHz. The new small SMD crystals have no disadvantage in terms of ESR compared to the old THT crystals at such high frequencies.
