Resistors With Negative Temperature Coefficient
VITROHM has extended the product portfolio with NTC resistors. NTC sensors are resistors with negative temperature coefficient (NTC), i.e. the resistance value decreases when the temperature increases.
Main applications are temperature measurement and inrush current limiting.
An NTC is a thermally dependent resistor that covers a wider resistance range and has a precise and predictable curve over the entire operating temperature.

Application Areas:
NTC products can cover a wide range. Preferably, the products can be found in applications that involve temperature measurement or temperature compensation. For example, temperature compensation can be used in shunt applications to compensate for thermal influence.
- Automotive applications: In the automotive industry, these components are used in charging stations or battery packs of electric vehicles to ensure the longest possible service life.
- Industrial applications: Here, these components can be found in battery drilling machines, for example, where semiconductors can be protected from overtemperature and temperature compensation can be used for shunt components.
- Household appliances: In household appliances these components can be found in refrigerators, air conditioners, thermometers or in-wall power supplies for outdoor shading.
