MPS Open-Source Ventilator

MPS' open-source ventilator is making a valuable contribution to treat COVID-19.

A Valuable Contribution to Treat COVID-19

In coorporation with the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), our manufacturer MPS wanted to use its expertise and resources to help in the fight against Covid-19. The MPS engineering team has therefore assembled an emergency ventilator inspired by the open-source MIT design. MPS applies its expertise in power management (AC/DC supply, charging of Li-Ion batteries) and motor controls (FOC motor control with integrated positioning) to a solution that can safely and easily automate a manual resuscitator. The low-cost design can be built quickly with a minimal number of off-the-shelf components. You can find more information on how this open source ventilator works here.

The MPS components and evaluation boards used are available at CODICO. We would also be happy to put you in touch with the relevant engineers on the open source team.
