ISABELLENHÜTTE's New WAx Resistor Series
With Very Low Resistance Value
The new WAx product family closes a gap in ISABELLENHÜTTE's current portfolio. The expansion makes it possible to produce components with a very low resistance value while at the same time reducing the component size, which also affects the preferred size 1206.
In the WAx family power ranges of 1-3W are mapped with a resistance value ranging from 1mOhm to 0.3mOhm. The component size varies between 1206, 1213 and 2010. In comparison, the ISA-WELD® family maps power ranges from 3-10W with a resistance value ranging from 6.8mOhm to 0.1mOhm. The component size here varies between 1213 up to 5930.
At the same time, ISABELLENHÜTTE established a new technology with the WAx family, namely Roll-CLAD Technology.

This new manufacturing process enables an alternative production process in which two different metal strips are joined together. This happens through a cold rolling process, where two rolls act with high pressure on the two metal strips (see illustration). One strip is the base material copper and resistance materials MANGANIN® or ZERANIN® developed by ISABELLENHÜTTE itself.
The advantage of this manufacturing method is to produce components with small component dimensions while reducing the resistance values. Remarkable is the high quality standard typical for ISABELLENHÜTTE, which is shown in the high power dissipation and the impressive resistance stability even at high temperatures.
