THUNDERCOMM's New Computer Modules
For AI and IoT Applications
THUNDERCOMM introduces three new modules based on quite different Snapdragon processors from QUALCOMM:
- S212 SOM: for smartwatches and other wearables
- C404 SOM: for smart speakers and conference systems
- C865 SOM: for AI applications
C404 SOM
The slightly bigger brother C404 SOM is equipped with 4xCortex-A53 @ 1.4GHz (64 Bit) cores and has 2 Hexagon QDSP6 v66. This module is offered in the same memory configuration as the S212, but is also available with half memory footprint (512MB LPDDR3 + 4GB eMMC). Due to the extensive audio interfaces such as 5xI2S, 8xDMIC and Soundwire, this module is particularly suitable for smart speakers and conference systems.
C865 SOM
Especially for AI applications with high and time critical computing requirements THUNDERCOMM proudly presents the C865 SOM based on the new Snapdragon SM8250. The user has access to the new Cryo 585 architecture, which consists of 4xCortex-A77 (3x2.42 GHz and 1x2.84GHz) and 4xCortex-A55 @ 1.8GHz cores. An Adreno 650 GPU and several DSPs for digital signal processing are also added. The RAM memory is connected via a 6GB LPDDR5 BGA device that is assembled directly on the SM8250 using a POP (Package on Package) manufacturing technique. Thus, at a clock rate of 2750MHz and a 4x16 bit data bus, 44GBps (Giga Bytes per second) can be transferred purely mathematically. The flash is equipped with 128GB UFS. With the C865 SOM, 2 displays and 6 cameras can be easily connected for 8K@60fps content. Even though all 3 SOMs provide integrated WiFi and BT connectivity, the C865 SOM stands out because it supports additionally the new WiFi standard 11ax.
